Styling with Colour: Glowing Starts Beneath the Clothes

Styling with Colour: Glowing Starts Beneath the Clothes

Have you ever tried on an apparel in what you deemed was your favorite colour, only to find that it somehow made you look… tired? Or tried a lipstick shade that looked amazing on your friend, but washed you out? That’s where colour analysis comes in—a game-changer in personal styling that helps you wear colours that not only naturally enhances your features but also boosts your mood and confidence.

Last week we hosted a styling session with Dahlia Mohd, the co-founder of En Pointe & Co. where we mixed not just fashion but science. With a deep appreciation for how fashion expresses identity, Dahlia brought an intimate, thoughtful, and confident approach to everyday dressing- starting from what you wear underneath!

We started off by learning about the different types of underlying skin tone- warm, cool and neutral. Warm undertones glow in earthy, golden or peachy hues- think olive green, crimson brick and old gold. Cool undertones shine in blush, blue or lavender  shades like rose pink, mint blue and lilac. Neutral undertones (you lucky people) are blessed and thrive in a mix of colours  - lagoon blue, jade green and slate grey.

When you wear colours that complement your skin tone, your skin looks brighter and more radiant, your eyes pop and everything just seems to work better!

To up a notch, you can also be grouped into different seasons - Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter! You might be Spring if you have peachy undertones,  you would suit warm and light colours - think coral, creams and soft yellows. If you have cool or neutral undertones, you would fall into the summer category, soft and cool colours like dusty rose, lavender and misty greys would compliment you well. Autumns have warm or olive undertones and that works best with rust, terracotta, olive and rich caramel colours. Last but not least, Winters have cool undertones and the best colours are black, navy and icy brights.

So, now you know! Colour analysis isn’t just some niche styling trick—it’s genuinely transformative. When you wear colours that work for you instead of against you, everything changes. Your skin glows, your eyes sparkle, and you feel more like… you. Our session with Dahlia Mohd taught us that discovering your undertone and  finding your season is like unlocking a little cheat code to getting dressed each day with confidence and ease.

So next time you are picking out your lingerie or outfit, take a moment to think about the colours that work perfectly for you and enjoy the confidence boost!
