Launch day nerves: Meet Alexis 

P.S. I still get nervous with every launch

Even after all these years, unveiling a new collection still feels deeply personal. There’s that unmistakable flutter — a pause just before we hit "live" — when I ask myself: Did we get it right? Will they feel what I hoped they would?

Last week, we launched Alexis — and that familiar wave of nerves rolled right in.

Not many people know this, but I’m a bit of a doodler. I doodle when I’m briefing the team, when I need to get concepts out of my head, when inspiration strikes and I need to pen those creative thoughts down. For the longest time, I kept those doodles to myself. They felt too unpolished, too unfinished and not professional enough.  However, I’m learning to lean into that vulnerable space — to embrace the work-in-progress and remind myself that it’s okay to share the 80%. So here’s a little idea: what if I posted a doodle every Wednesday? A window into my messy, scribbly, creative heart. If that sounds like something you'd love, give me a shout! 

This collection, Alexis, holds a special place in my heart. Her story began with my dream of a solo European escape- a romantic adventure. I saw myself wandering through cobblestone streets, café-hopping, journaling, just being. Rediscovering a slower version of myself. Reconnecting with the parts of me that often get tucked away in the busyness of life. Just like the charms of one of my favourite movies, Before Sunset. 

Though this solo trip hasn’t happened (yet), the magical Porto campaign did. We found Giovanna, our muse for the Alexis campaign, through our photographer’s recommendation. She’s an origami lamp maker based in Porto and from the moment we saw her, we knew that she was the one. There was an effortless beauty about her, a natural ease, just the type of girl Alexis represented. She said yes to walking the city with us, falling in love with it in real time, and letting us see Porto through her eyes. And just like that, Alexis took my place on the trip I couldn’t take. She carried that dreamy, soft, romantic feelingto Porto for me.

Thank you for welcoming Alexis back into your lives again. She’s been with us since 2015, part of the Perk by Kate story, and now, part of yours too. I hope she brings a little romance into your everyday life.
