My feelings going into the event were different. I knew the event would be great, even before it started. True enough, as I looked around the room last Friday, it was everything I envisioned. Intimate. Intentional. Stylish.
There was no agenda, just a space for me to show appreciation to the partners, customers, and friends who have journeyed with Perk by Kate over the past 15 years. A space for amazing women to get to know each other.
The most beautiful part was seeing everyone in PBK, with a touch of their personal style, shining and glowing in their most confident, glowing selves. That was unforgettable.
There was also something powerful and energetic seeing women from different seasons of life seated side by side - mothers, founders, creatives, friends. One table was grouped together because of their dietary restrictions, but nothing about that table was awkward. They bonded, they laughed, they shared dating stories, heartbreaks, parenting tips and so much more. Watching vulnerability shared gently across plates and candlelight was special.
It's simple. Community is the real luxury. Connection is the real milestone.
As a founder, I spend most days thinking about product, fit, growth, strategy. But that night reminded me of something far more important.
Perk by Kate started out being about lingerie, but it has long moved on. It's about how a woman feels in her own skin. It's about comfort, self-love, confidence, style. It was always about creating spaces where she doesn’t have to shrink herself. Where your laughter can be loud. Where your vulnerability is welcome.
Our marketing theme for this year - “The Year of You” - isn’t just a theme. It’s a permission slip.
To choose yourself.
To release what no longer serves you.
To soften without apologising.
To stand firm without hardening.
To honour the woman you are becoming.
If you were there, thank you for trusting us with your evening. Your energy, your stories, your openness, they are what made the night what it was.
And if you weren't, please know this: there will be another table FOR YOU.
With this, I end my reflections. To our virtual followers, I have not met all of you personally, but I would love a chance to get to know you better. If you are fond of intimate experiences and open to being invited to future gatherings, please simply reply to this email. I remember you, I hear you, and I hope to welcome you to the next table.
It's The Year of You - are you ready?
Kate
